Andrew Walker

I have been woodturning for many years but had a massive gap due to mental health issues, having walked out of a high pressure supervisory position and attaining a more relaxed operative position as a timber machinist I reignited my love of turning.

I became a member of The Association of Woodturners Great Britain and attend Eden Valley Woodturners near Appleby in Westmorland where I am now the Club Treasurer and also a Demonstrator. I also demonstrate at other clubs around the North of England.

I turn from the heart, most of my pieces are one offs, so there is never usually a plan unless commission work is being undertaken. I am happy to talk with anyone about commissions – these can be a gift for a loved one or an architectural renovation, I have done a number of  architectural pieces for The Cumbria Clock Company near Penrith.
